Christopher Rutter, born 20th September 1984, aged 21 was born in Bootle just
next to North Park, and moved to Crosby aged 4. Chris’ parents Billy and Marie
both work for and run WJR Building Services. He also has one younger brother
James.
In the early years Chris (or Rutter as he tends to be known) attended Great
Crosby Primary School and Sacred Heart Secondary School, both based in
Crosby. Strangely he enjoyed attending school and much preferred it to working
life. He progressed onto university where he spent 90% of the time dosing and
drinking, and the other 10% was spent studying ‘Applied Computer Technology’ at
John Moores University. He is currently working as a Network Engineer (yawn) at Rapid
Technologies in Childwall and loving it! |
Rutter started Scouting in Cubs and moved on through all of the other sections, including Scouts,
Venture Scouts and now finally Network. In Venture Scouts he was involved in running the unit and
took many pleasures in the camping and drinking side Scouting. He met many friends during his
time at Ventures most of them are still regarded as his best buddies!
Getting involved with Network was an easy job for Chris, he attended the first meeting, in the
Vernon Arms (now closed down) rather lashed after the university freshers day, and proceeded to
telephone a lot of people including a local county campsite warden, numerous ACC’s and many
others. Needless to say his phone is now removed from his possession after any alcohol
consumption.
During his time with network, he has attended lots of events including the Sun Run, the Cheshire
Summer Ball and the National Scout Network gathering. He is currently taking up the role of the
Chairman of Merseyside Scout Network, and takes great delight from attending meetings and
organising events!
Although from this profile, Chris sounds like a deranged alcoholic loony, he is in reality a sound
thinker with a happy go lucky attitude (kind of like a leprechaun without the pot of gold).
Post script.
Despite the deranged alcoholic loony in Chris he really is a terribly nice chap who goes out of his
way, that extra mile to be helpful. He is doing a great job as chair for the committee meetings. He
still has a few years left in him as a Network member, so hopefully he will be around for some time
to come and when you come into contact with him, hopefully his enthusiasm will rub of him to you,
he’s definitely a Network member to know!
